What Is a Level 2 ASP?
ASP stands for Accredited Service Provider. Level 2 ASPs are authorised by the local network operator — Essential Energy in the Northern Rivers — to work on the supply-side electrical infrastructure that connects properties to the power network. This includes metering, consumer mains, overhead and underground service lines, points of attachment, and private poles.
Only a Level 2 ASP can legally carry out this work. A standard licensed electrician can work on everything downstream of the meter and switchboard, but the supply-side scope requires the additional accreditation. For a plain-English breakdown of the scope, read our guide to what a Level 2 electrician is and when you need one.
Level 2 ASP work is available across the Northern Rivers, including for property owners looking for an electrician in Lismore, or an electrician in Byron Bay.

Chris has done a range of electrical work for me over the years and has always been reliable and easy to deal with. He turns up on time, does a great job, and genuinely looks for the best solution rather than just the easiest option. I’d happily recommend him.
I recently had a few electrical jobs done around the house, including installing ceiling fans and new lights, repairing my solar system, and a few others. Everything was completed without any issues, and I'm really happy with how it all turned out.
I can’t recommend Chris highly enough. We’ve used him for a wide range of electrical work over the years, including installing lighting, ceiling fans, bathroom ventilation, a Tesla EV charger, and completely rewiring and fitting out a flood-affected house.
When Do You Need a Level 2 ASP Electrician?
The most common triggers are Essential Energy defect notices, new property connections for builds or subdivisions, supply upgrades for higher-load appliances like EV chargers or three-phase equipment, and temporary builders power for construction sites. If the work involves the meter, the mains cable, the point of attachment, or the private pole, it requires a Level 2 ASP.
Electric East Electricians responds to Essential Energy defect notices promptly — some defect categories carry compliance deadlines that must be met to avoid disconnection.
